1. Getting Started with AI Chat Tools (Foundations) ⏱ 20 minutes min 📊 Beginner

Objective

Use AI as a patient personal tutor that adjusts explanations to the learner's level.

Materials Needed

  • AI chat tool
  • A topic each student wants to understand better

Step-by-Step Instructions

  1. 1

Each student picks a topic they've always wondered about (how credit scores work, what a 401k is, how Wi-Fi works, etc.).

  2. 2

Prompt: 'Explain [topic] like I'm a complete beginner, using a simple everyday analogy.'

  3. 3

Ask a follow-up: 'Now explain it again assuming I'm a bit more advanced, with more detail.'

  4. 4

Ask: 'Quiz me with 3 questions to check my understanding.'

  5. 5

Answer the quiz questions and have the AI grade your answers.

Instructor TipModel the 'analogy' request live — students are often surprised how much clearer a good analogy makes a confusing topic.
